Run for Rhinos Virtual Run
Throughout June 2022, the AUSMAT Student Council had organized a virtual run event, Run for Rhinos (R4R). With the tagline Don’t Let Rhinos become Dinos, the run has one main objective; to raise funds in support of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and their rhino conservation efforts. RFR is AUSMAT’s one of many events in line with the Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing and SDG 15: Life on Land.
There were two running categories: 10km and 20km. Each participant received a myBurgerLab voucher and an R4R t-shirt. With award categories such as the Most Distance Covered and the Fastest Runner, a total of 58 participants joined the run, leading to a grand total of RM2000.00 being collected! The committee also received a free, custom mock-cheque courtesy of Sun Global Stationaries in support of RFR.
On the 14th of July 2022, a member of the student council, Ms. Rishika Kaur, accompanied by the AUSMAT Student Council advisor, Mr. Aminuddin Baharudin went to the WWF office in Petaling Jaya for a mock-cheque ceremony with Ms. Suan Tan, the Senior Manager of Brand Marketing. After months of communicating online, the meet-up was filled with a sense of relief and gratitude. Brief discussions were also made on creating deeper, more diverse forms of collaboration in the future such as in-campus talks, games, and booths. It is truly exciting to see what the future holds for this collaboration, and the impact it could bring towards the SDGs.
