SDS Graduation Ceremony 2024: The Start of Something New

The Jeffrey Cheah Hall was filled with joy, pride, and excitement as Sunway College hosted the Sunway Diploma Studies (SDS) Graduation Ceremony 2024. It was a day to commemorate the hard work and perseverance of students who have reached an important milestone in their academic journey. The event was divided into two sessions, reflecting the diversity and accomplishments of the graduating cohorts.

​The event began with a keynote address by the Chief Executive Officer of the Sunway Education Group, Professor Dato' Dr Elizabeth Lee. Her speech resonated with themes of lifelong learning, and the pursuit of excellence, encouraging graduates to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. With her wisdom and experience, Professor Dato' Dr Elizabeth reminded the graduates of their potential to make meaningful contributions in an ever-changing world, inspiring and motivating the audience.

“The world is constantly changing, and with it comes both challenges and opportunities,” said Professor Dato' Dr Elizabeth Lee. “Your time at Sunway College has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and resilience to navigate these changes. As you step forward, remember that learning does not end here—it is a lifelong journey. Strive for excellence, remain adaptable, and never stop believing in your ability to make a difference.”

The morning session honoured graduates from the Diploma in Business Administration (DBA), Diploma in Accounting (DACT), and Diploma in Finance (DFIN), recognising excellence in academic achievement, business innovation, and financial proficiency. Special awards were then presented to top-performing students, recognising their outstanding academic achievements and contributions to the college. The hall was alive with applause and cheers as proud families and friends celebrated alongside the graduates.

In the afternoon session, students from the Diploma in Communication (DCOM) were acknowledged for their creative contributions to media and branding. At the same time, graduates from the Diploma in Information Technology (DIIT) received accolades for their exceptional work in technological innovation and programming excellence. The session was graced by the presence of Miss Ng Beng Lean, Group Registrar, and Puan Adawiah Norli Yusuf, Director of SDS, who joined in celebrating the graduates' success. Special recognition was also given to students who excelled in leadership, media innovation, and technology-driven projects.

Across both sessions, the ceremony underscored Sunway’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded graduates ready to make meaningful contributions to society. It was a proud moment for the graduates, the parents, and the lecturers who have been integral to their journey. Parents beamed with joy, witnessing the culmination of their children's hard work and determination, while lecturers looked on with immense pride, knowing they had played a vital role in shaping these bright minds.
