Sunway College Kuching field trip to the Bank Negara Malaysia

A group of students from Sunway College Kuching had recently attended a field trip to the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) branch in Kuching. The visit aimed to give the students insights into the latest developments and trends in the Malaysian economy, exposure to how economy stabilization works in the real world, and to enhance their understanding of economics theories and regulations.

During the field trip, BNM shared the latest data on Malaysian real GDP growth and applied monetary policies at different periods of time. There was also an interactive session where students were given a quiz to test their understanding of Malaysian economics.

The BNM also spread awareness on current money scamming cases and shared ways to prevent it. The facility and assistance provided by BNM to the public was also highlighted.

The visit proved to be enjoyable for most of the students, who were willing to share their ideas and thoughts with BNM. They were able to gain confidence in their learning progress as they realized that the theories they had acquired in the classrooms were entirely practical. The students also achieved an impressive of 88% on average in the Economics quiz given by BNM.

The students expressed their gratitude to BNM and became more aware of the importance of pursuing tertiary education for career advancement opportunities in the future. This field trip was a valuable experience for the students, providing them with practical insights into the working of the Malaysian economy.
