Sunway College Leads Malaysia to Gold at IEO Singapore Invitational Meet 2026

Sunway College students from the AUSMAT and A-Level programmes achieved remarkable success at the IEO Singapore Invitational Meet 2026, representing Malaysia on the international stage and competing against participants from eight countries, namely Japan, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Singapore.
The Malaysian team secured both the International Team Overall Distinction Award (Gold) and the International Business Case Award (Gold). The students' journey began with the Economics Explorer Competition, where they demonstrated their aptitude and passion for Economics. Building on this success, they progressed to the Malaysian Economics Olympiad (MYEO) before advancing to the National Selection Camp, where they secured places in the Malaysian national team. Their selection earned them the opportunity to represent Malaysia at the IEO Singapore Invitational Meet 2026.
Sunway College students also delivered an impressive performance in the individual category. Er Jun Tat received the Individual Distinction Award and emerged as the Overall Champion, securing 1st place. Chong Jun Ru was awarded the Individual Distinction Award for 8th placing while Marissa Au-Yong Tjia Ern earned an Individual Distinction Award for ranking within the 11th to 20th place category.
Under the guidance of their Economics lecturers Poovaikarasi Sateyen from the AUSMAT programme and Vasuki Nadarajah from the A-Level programme, the students demonstrated exceptional academic ability, critical thinking, and collaboration throughout the competition. These remarkable achievements reflect the strength of Sunway College's AUSMAT and A-Level programmes and reinforce the College's commitment to nurturing globally competitive and high-achieving learners.
