Beyond A-Level: Engineering Your Future - Empowering Tomorrow’s Innovators Today

From 12 to 14 August 2025, A-Level Department from Sunway College Kuala Lumpur hosted a dynamic 3-day STEM event titled “Beyond A-Level: Engineering Your Future”, aimed at empowering A-Level students to explore engineering as a future pathway. Spearheaded by Ms Grace Tan Kang Ning, A-Level Chemistry lecturer, and supported by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) under Ir. Dr Ng Lik Yin, the initiative brought science and engineering together in a meaningful and engaging way..

Students from Physics, Chemistry, and Maths streams participated in daily sessions that combined one hour of academic lecture with one hour of engineering exploration. They toured cutting-edge labs such as the Solid Mechanics & Materials Lab, Engineering Project Lab, and Advanced Computing Labs, gaining firsthand exposure to how scientific principles are applied in real-world engineering.

The highlight was the interactive sharing across five engineering disciplines—Chemical, Electronic & Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, and Civil—where students engaged with faculty and explored future career possibilities.

The event concluded on 14 August with a closing ceremony featuring a course sharing session by Prof. Abhi Veerakumarasivam, who also emphasized the value of considering local study options. This was followed by an inspiring closing speech from Prof. Ir. Denny Ng Kok Sum, encouraging students to take bold steps toward shaping the future through engineering.
