'Bringing Reality to Public Safety' Workshop

On the 5th and 6th of December 2024, Sunway College Ipoh, conducted by Mr. Joshua Wong from the MARCOMM department, proudly hosted the 'Bringing Reality to Public Safety' workshop. This impactful program brought students and staff together for an enlightening and practical experience aimed at enhancing personal safety awareness and self-defense skills.

The workshop provided participants with essential knowledge and training, including:

• Understanding legal rights for self-defense under Malaysian law
• How to prevent, diffuse, and respond to real-world threats
• Identifying the body language of potential attackers
• Discernment between realistic and non-realistic self-defense methods
• Emotional readiness and simulations for real-life attack scenarios
• Response-based self-defense training tailored for practicality
• Using everyday items such as keys, blades, and umbrellas as weapons of convenience

Participants left the workshop equipped with actionable skills to stay prepared and protected in challenging situations. The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students and staff, who appreciated the hands-on approach and expert guidance provided.
