BUSINESS ASIA@21 – 1st Symposium – Innovation. Sustainability. Agility, 23rd August 2019

In pursuant to the 25th Anniversary of Sunway-VU Partnership, the Victoria University Undergraduate Programme Department (VUUP) raised its banner with the organisation of its 1st Symposium, entitled Business Asia@21 – Innovation. Sustainability. Agility on the 23rd August, 2019.

The event was organised in collaboration with Victoria University (VU), Melbourne and Monash University Malaysia (MUM). This momentous event was officiated by Puan Sri Datin Seri DR Susan Cheah, the Exco member of Sunway Group, followed by the opening address by Sunway Education Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Elizabeth Lee. There were 111 attendees from Indonesia, India and Malaysia, with 31 papers presented.

The aim of this Symposium is to explore emerging trends in business, especially the need for businesses to be agile, sustainable and innovative to meet the demand of this century. The evolvement of businesses, necessitates a redefinition of the ways in which business transactions or processes are executed. The inability to be agile, sustainable and innovative will pose a great threat of survivorship and would have devastating impact on the economy. As such, it is critical for the business fraternity and the academia to comprehend such knowledge and to tap into the opportunities ahead. This Symposium shown with key speakers, who were, Professor Mark Farrell, Dean, Victoria University Business School, Professor Mahendhiran Nair, Vice President Research and Development, Monash University Malaysia, Professor Pervaiz Ahmed, Deputy Head of School, Research, School of Management, Ms Nadia Navin, UNDP Representative, Ms Bernadine Caruana, Counsellor, Education and Science, Australian High Commission and Professor Glenda Crosling, Head of Sunway University Centre for Higher Education. In addition, a fruitful Forum, entitled, Sustainable Innovation for Inclusive Society, was convened, comprising of experts from both the academia and industry who not only focus on current business challenges and best practices, but also provided practical tools, tips and techniques, coupled with presentations of 31 quality research papers.
