CIMP’s Liew Zhi Yi Glides to Gold at Skate Johor 2025

Canadian International Matriculation Programme (CIMP) student Liew Zhi Yi has made her mark in the figure skating community by winning a gold medal in the Open Free Skate Bronze category at the 4th ISIAsia Competition, SKATE JOHOR 2025, held at the Blue Ice Skating Rink, Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru.

What made the victory even more meaningful was that Zhi Yi became the first skater from her home rink to win a gold medal. “My coaches were so proud and we even had a small celebration together. It felt really special to share that moment with them,” she shared.

Zhi Yi also expressed her gratitude to Sunway College for supporting her both academically and personally. “Balancing skating with CIMP has not always been easy, but the encouragement from my teachers and friends has truly helped me keep going,” she said.

Her achievement is a shining example of how passion and perseverance can lead to extraordinary milestones, serving as an inspiration to fellow Sunwayians.
