Explore Business: Byte into Business

The Byte into Business event, held on 7 and 8 April, brought together over 100 students across two days for an immersive exploration of careers in the business field.

The event was led by the Sunway College Student Council and Sunway Career Services, in collaboration with the Pre-U Division and supported by the Sunway Business School.

Recognising the breadth and diversity of the business landscape, the programme was thoughtfully designed as a two-day series, with each day focusing on distinct career pathways and industry insights.

The first day centred on careers in Accounting, Finance, and Investment. Students gained valuable perspectives from industry professionals representing key sectors, including banking, accounting, and asset management.

The speakers featured were:

• Sonia Lim (OCBC Bank)
• Aaron Tan (PwC)
• Khoo Hsien Liang (AHAM Asset Management)

Notably, all three speakers are also Sunway alumni, making their sharing especially relatable and inspiring for students.

The second day shifted focus to careers in Entrepreneurship and Global Business, highlighting emerging trends in startups and digital commerce. The session featured:

• Dr Jason Gan (Carsome)
• Ms Naza Ashiba (TNG Digital)
• Ang Ker Soon (Greenbugs; Victoria University alumnus)

Each day concluded with a Degree Preview session by the Sunway Business School, delivered by:

• Dr Renee Kok (Assistant Head, Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics)
• Dr Stella Ong (Deputy Dean, Employability and Alumni)

A key strength of the Explore Series lies in its integrated format, which brings together industry perspectives and academic pathways within a single, cohesive experience. This approach enables students to make more informed decisions about their future studies and career directions.

The event concluded with an interactive networking and Q&A session, providing students with the opportunity to engage directly with speakers, ask questions, and deepen their understanding of the business field.

Byte into Business marks a strong continuation of the Explore Series, an initiative aimed at connecting students with industry professionals while helping them explore and clarify potential career pathways.
