When most students were enjoying a well-deserved break, Chuah Jia Herng, a Sunway A-Level student from the July 2024 intake, was deep in the world of numbers, patterns, and logic. His summer was spent at a prestigious mathematics camp in China, where he immersed himself in advanced problem-solving and collaborative learning with peers from across Asia. But that was just the beginning.

Jia Herng’s dedication and talent earned him a coveted spot on Malaysia’s national team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2025, the world’s most renowned mathematics competition for pre-university students. Held this year in Australia, the IMO brought together brilliant young minds from over 100 countries, each vying to solve some of the most challenging mathematical problems imaginable. And Jia Herng didn’t just participate; he excelled.
