SDS Students Ranked among Top 12 Finalists in Intervarsity Public Speaking Competition 2025

We were thrilled to celebrate an outstanding achievement by our Sunway Diploma Studies students. Two talented speakers, Beh Adonis Yifei (Certificate in Business Studies) and Eng Kelvy (Diploma in Business Administration), proudly secured their places among the Top 12 Finalists in the highly competitive Intervarsity Undergraduate Public Speaking Competition 2025.

This prestigious competition aimed to empower young leaders by sharpening their communication skills and providing a dynamic platform to share bold ideas, inspire audiences and engage with peers from universities and colleges across Malaysia.

The competition featured two stages. In the preliminary round, participants submitted a 3-minute video on “Your Ideal Smart City”, aligned with SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities. From these submissions, the top 12 finalists were shortlisted for the grand finale, which became a true test of quick thinking and eloquence. In the final round, participants delivered a 3-minute impromptu speech without visual aids and in full formal attire. They were given only five minutes of preparation time after drawing their topics.

The grand finale, held on 5 July 2025 at INTI International College Subang, brought together brilliant young speakers from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), SEGi University, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), UCSI University and INTI International College Subang. The atmosphere was electrifying, filled with inspiring speeches and commentary from the expert judges and enthusiastic support from the audience.

A key highlight of the event was the keynote address titled “Smart Waste: Innovative Solutions for Urban Sustainability”, delivered by YBhg. Dato’ Hj Ramli Mohd Tahir, D.S.I.S (Selangor), Managing Director of KDEB Waste Management. His session offered thought-provoking insights into innovative strategies for waste management and the future of sustainable urban living in Malaysia.

Before stepping into this competitive arena, Adonis and Kelvy underwent training with Sunway Diploma Studies lecturers. Beh Adonis Yifei was coached by Ms. Siew Li Ling, while Eng Kelvy received guidance from Ms. Malathi Selvanathan. Their hard work, discipline and passion were evident throughout the competition.

We extend our heartiest congratulations to Yifei and Kelvy for their perseverance, confidence and remarkable achievement. Their success reflects the commitment of Sunway Diploma Studies to nurturing articulate communicators and empowering the next generation of leaders.
