SISA Organised Community Service at Animal Shelter
On 23rd February 2019, Sunway International Student Ambassadors organised a voluntary community service event at Seroja Inn S.I Home Shelter in Shah Alam. This event was participated by 13 international students and 5 Malaysian students led by Student Welfare - International Office.
Seroja Inn is a non-profit, independent animal shelter founded in 2012. Their mission is to care for injured and abused animals. It currently houses 600 cats and 12 dogs.
The main objectives for SISA students to organize this event are to educate and create awareness on the importance of animal care, and encourage civic involvement in the efforts of such NGOs. This particular event promotes care towards animals, especially strays, and to fight animal cruelty.
This effort has given students the opportunity to appreciate the work and the challenge of running and managing an animal shelter - and most important, the contentment of giving back to the community by volunteering time and energy.
