Students Discover the Real-World Impact of AI, 5G, and XR at CelcomDigi AiX

Students from Victoria University @ Sunway recently visited the CelcomDigi AI Experience Centre (AiX) at Subang Hi-Tech Industrial Park. The state-of-the-art facility provided students with firsthand exposure to how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, robotics, and Extended Reality (XR) are reshaping industries and driving innovation across the globe.

The visit began at the Infinity Room, an immersive space featuring interactive floor-to-ceiling displays that bring the future of digital living to life. Students received an insightful briefing from Encik Rahmat of CelcomDigi, who shared how emerging technologies are transforming sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, and energy. Through hands-on interaction with the displays, students gained a deeper understanding of the real-world applications and impact of smart technologies and innovation.

The group then explored The Gallery, an interactive showcase featuring simulations across eight key sectors, including agritech and logistics. Among the highlights were demonstrations of virtual reality (VR) applications in surgical settings and higher education, illustrating how immersive technologies are enhancing learning and professional training. Stealing the spotlight, however, was the Robodog—a cutting-edge robotic companion that captivated students with its impressive agility, interactive features, and ability to perform tricks, including flashing a playful “love sign.”

Beyond the gadgets, we learned that AiX serves as a vital collaborative space where universities and enterprises co-create and validate 5G solutions. Students described the trip as a “truly unique” experience that provided essential exposure to emerging tech. The inspiring visit concluded with a group photo at noon, leaving the students with a clearer vision of the digital frontier.
