Unlocking Futures: SDS Career Exploration Day 2024 Empowers Students with Industry Insights and Opportunities!

Sunway Diploma Studies (SDS) recently hosted its annual Career Exploration Day (CED) spanning July 1st and July 5th.

Featuring an impressive lineup of 20 companies and a series of enriching workshops, the CED has become a cornerstone event for SDS empowering students to shape their professional futures.

According to the lecturer and project manager overseeing the event, Ms Nurul Aini: the event aimed to expand students’ knowledge of diverse career opportunities and emerging sectors.

“We sought to facilitate meaningful industry connections that could lead to internships, mentorships and their future employment opportunities," said Nurul Aini.

She highlighted that this year’s two-part event kicked off with workshops for academicians on July 1st, followed by a career exhibition and student workshops on July 5th.

SDS Committed to Fostering Industry-Relevant Learning and Enhancing Career Readiness

According to the Head of the Teaching and Learning Unit at SDS, Mr. Gobindran Raj Rajagopal, the Career Exploration Day 2024 has not only facilitated students in their future career pursuits but also equipped educators to better guide them.

“SDS introduced a pivotal new component to the Career Exploration Day—workshops designed specifically for academicians, with the goal of narrowing the gap between academia and industry”.

Mr Gobind added that the workshops led by distinguished professionals from the related industry to provide educators in Information Technology, Communication, and Business Administration with the latest industry trends, technologies, and insights.

“The success of these academic sessions, coupled with our dynamic career exhibition featuring 20 esteemed companies, underscored the Career Exploration Day as a cornerstone event for SDS,” Mr Gobind added.

“The career exhibition provided a platform for students to interact directly with industry professionals, explore various career opportunities, and receive advice on CV and LinkedIn profiles from Career Peer Advisors,” he added.

With over 300 students in attendance, the event facilitated meaningful connections and offered insights into diverse career paths and emerging job roles.

This event is particularly beneficial for fourth and fifth-semester students, enhancing their career readiness, personal branding, and job search strategies as they prepare to conclude their study journey.
