Blackboard On Tour comes to Sunway
Sunway IT Services Department hosted the “Blackboard Education On Tour 2018” on 13 March at Sunway campus for their Asia Pacific tour in Malaysia. Blackboard is a full-featured LMS platform used for Sunway eLearn (as well as most major universities globally) to deliver study content to students. Participants have taken the opportunity to preview the new Blackboard Ultra. They have also taken the advantage to learn from the Blackboard eLearning domain experts Mr Lau Eng Tang and Dr Susan D'Aloia, as well as sharing with Blackboard users from other institutions.
Mr. Loo Ooi Meng, Manager - IT Services, delivered the opening speech with a brief introduction about Sunway City and Sunway campus transition to new eLearn Ultra experience. It is followed by the welcome speech from Mr. Maneesh Sarvia, Blackboard Country Manager of Malaysia.
The session started with the topic “The Journey to Ultra” by Mr. Lau Eng Tang, Solution Engineer from Blackboard Asia. In his presentation, he pointed out the importance to have the right planning place for rolling out of new technologies from integrations to migrations which includes stake holder engagement, risk management and change management, and ensuring everything fits together. In the next session, Mr Lau and Dr Susan D’Aloia, Client Success Advocate, Blackboard Asia presented the topic “Completing the Loop with Analytics”. They mentioned that institutions have been increasingly using Blackboard Analytics as a way to complete the loop with learning design and engagement.
Mr Lau continued with the topic “A Fully Integrated Learner Registration Capability in Your Learning Environment”. He shared a Blackboard solution that offers a fully integrated learner registration capability, coupled with enrolment management workflow, e-commerce capabilities, and enterprise reporting tools by using Blackboard Registration and Management. It allows organisations to manage the full life cycle of learning information from directly within the learning environment without third party integrations. Combining with Blackboard’s flexible learning solutions, the integrated module will give learners more control as they navigate their training environment. With Blackboard Registration and Management module, one can schedule and manage courses, classroom time and webinars outside the LMS, control enrollments, track learner progress, improve reporting process and show total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) for completed and planned courses, completion rates, enrolment history and more.
The session ended with the topic “Making Learning Accessible to All Students” presented by Dr Susan D’Aloia. She shared how Blackboard Ally helps institution gain detailed insight into the accessibility of their digital course content, provides guidance to teachers on how to improve the accessibility of their content, and automatically provides students with a range of more accessible alternative formats.
