Congratulations to all Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts from AUSMAT!
We are proud to announce that 21 AUSMAT lecturers who applied for the Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Experts certification have been recognised as the newest MIE Experts. Heartfelt congratulations on their well-deserved success!
The Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Expert program is an exclusive program created by Microsoft to recognize global educator visionaries who are using technology to pave the way for their peers for better learning and student outcomes. MIE Experts will be selected by the regional Microsoft representative based on the quality of the responses to the self-nomination form, the level of innovation and use of Microsoft tools described in the learning activity and the level of detail in how becoming a part of the program will impact both teaching and student learning.
To successfully create a blended and student-centred learning environment using educational technology, a variety of tools for different purposes have been adopted such as the use of QR codes, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft OneNote Class Notebook, MindMeister, video curation and creation tools, and digital inking. AUSMAT strives towards creating a 21st century classroom where lecturers’ role is more of a facilitator to student learning. AUSMAT lecturers have created a productive classroom environment and lessons which challenge students not only to be prepared for their school exams but also equip them with skills they need in the 21st century workplace. The digitalized and collaborative lesson modules are able to develop higher order thinking skills, effective communication skills, and knowledge of technology that students need to thrive in the 21st century.
Over the last three years, AUSMAT lecturers have successfully incorporated educational technology into curriculum delivery to enhance 21st century learning skills. One of the best practices is the use of Microsoft OneNote Class Notebook as a platform to create online learning materials and collaborative lessons. Besides that, AUSMAT lecturers have also prepared over 500 original video lessons to enrich the learning resources for students. This allows students to learn and revise at their own pace through self-directed learning.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, educational institutions have been forced to shut. As a result, education has changed dramatically with the distinctive rise of e-learning. Teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms. Despite the sudden shift away from the traditional classroom, AUSMAT lecturers have made all learning materials accessible online and they have been trained to conduct collaborative lessons using Microsoft Teams. Our lecturers have also gone the extra mile in preparing online formative and summative assessments to gauge students’ level of understanding.
