Empowering Futures: 'Sprinting With The Right Shoes' Workshop Series for Secondary School Students in 2024 by Sunway College Ipoh

Ever tried sprinting in slippers or with badly torn shoes? It's not just about running; it's a metaphor for life. Your journey's success hinges on understanding yourself. Making life-changing decisions such as career choices without self-awareness is like wearing ill-fitting shoes, leading to inevitable challenges and painful blisters.

That is why, at the beginning of 2024 Sunway College Ipoh kickstarted the year by showing 200 students of Perak Girls’ School Ipoh that with a good understanding of themselves and the right decisions in life, they too, can find the right pair of shoes to take them further in life.

Led by Mr. Joshua Wong, Manager of SCI’s Marketing & Communications Department, the program "Sprinting With The Right Shoes" strives to empower students with self-awareness, improved communication skillset, and goal-setting skills based on their personalities and career aspirations. The D.O.P.E. personality inventory, featuring doves, owls, peacocks, and eagles, offered a simple yet engaging workshop for Perak Girls' School students. They explored their styles and participated in group activities, simulating collaborative problem-solving.

After a short break, the students of PGS move on to discover some mind-blowing success tips with Ms. Liza Wong, The Head of School of Accounting, in the SPM Success Blueprint workshop. Taking center stage, Ms. Liza Wong spilled the hottest tips and latest hacks on how to tackle what is perhaps one of the most monumental exams in almost every Malaysian student’s life, SPM. The overwhelming success of the workshop prompted the school to request a second session for a different group of students. Additionally, several other schools have already secured bookings for the workshop in early 2024.

SPM is a crucial aspect of a Malaysian student’s life as it marks a transition from secondary to tertiary education.
