SDS DCOMM Students Showcase Digital Competency: Sweeping Three Gold Medals in All Three Categories

In a digital triumph that resonates with the spirit of modern innovation, students from Sunway Diploma Studies (SDS) Department of Communication at Sunway College (KL) have emerged victorious in three main national level categories in conjunction with ‘Karnival Bola Mania Piala Asia Peringkat 2024.’

The competition, held recently at Bangunan Angkasa Kebangsaan, Kelana Jaya witnessed an outstanding display of digital prowess as these students demonstrated their skills in web designing, animation, and photography, leaving competitors in awe.

Organized by Koperasi Alumni Yayasan Berhad (KOKAYA), the event saw around 22 and 18 participants respectively from both Public Higher Education Institutions (IPTA) and Private Higher Education Institutions (IPTS).

Sunway College (KL) has sent a total of six students from Diploma in Digital Content Creation (DDCC), Diploma in Interactive New Media (DINM) and Diploma in Communication (DCOM) under the supervision of five lecturers to participate in all three categories.

Muhammad Firdaus Harith Zulkifli (DDCC), Lim Hui Jun Crystal (DINM) and Desiree Sia Kiew Anne (DINM) were mentored by Nurul Zulfadhli Mohd and Sha’azim Ibhaidullah Dadameah in the Web Design category. Meanwhile, Muhammad Daanial Abdul Muhaymin (DDCC) and Nelly Yap Xin Li (DDCC) were supervised by Muhammad Alyas Abdul Jalil in the Animation category. As for the Photography category, Abdul Shakur Abdul Aziz mentored Johnathan Pun Yung Jian (DCOM). They all brought back gold medals for all categories, together with certificates of participation.

The success does not only prove students’ competency in digitalisation, but also the educators’ unwavering commitment in passing their know-how, tips, and tricks in leveraging technology for both entertainment and skill development.

As these students bask in the glory of their achievements, we are reminded that education extends beyond traditional boundaries, embracing the dynamic and ever-expanding realms of technology.
