SDS Sparks Innovation at Young Entrepreneurship Day: Igniting Sustainable Solutions for Malaysia's Future
In an era where sustainability is increasingly urgent for the betterment of our future generations, Malaysia cannot afford to be left behind as a progressive economy. Sunway Education Group (SEG) is at the forefront of this endeavour through the Jeffrey Sachs Centre on Sustainable Development, headquartered on campus and serving as the South-East Asian regional hub of the UNSDG 17 Sustainable Development Goals & Solutions.
In heeding this call, Sunway Diploma Studies (SDS) students from the Diploma in Business Administration (DBA) Semester 4 & 5 organised the Young Entrepreneurship Day (YED) to be a pivotal platform to showcase the brightest ideas.
They took on the challenge of integrating sustainability into viable business models as part of their integrated group assignment, where six subjects were assessed as one coherent business plan report.
According to the Director of SDS, Puan Norli Adawiah Yusuf, the celebration at YED was designed to be a dynamic and physical platform, not merely an exhibition of students’ projects. It was a celebration of inculcating, nurturing, and equipping an innovative mindset along with requisite skills among SDS-DBA students to be more industry-ready.
“The highlight of the event was a business pitching session featuring six finalist groups, judged by a distinguished panel from industry and academia. This platform offered young visionaries an invaluable opportunity to gain recognition and potential incubation for their innovative ideas,” she added.
A huge congratulations to the winners and thank you to our panel of judges from industry and academia to the following personalities:
Head of Programme for SDS DBA & CBS, Mr. Gobindran Raj said YED will continue as an annual event to represent a source of inspiration and encouragement of sustainable entrepreneurship for SDS students. This will allow them to better compete in our national economy in a more socially and environmentally responsible manner for a more affluent future."
“It is safe to say that the learning outcome of project YED, which inspired our students with a vicarious learning environment embedded into their integrated group assignments, was successfully attained,” he said.
“The celebration continues as we at SDS will harness and celebrate the power of young minds in shaping and driving sustainable national economic growth for Malaysia,” he added.
