Student Engagement and Learning in Action at Sunway TES College Johor Bahru

Sunway TES College Johor Bahru (STESJB) continues to provide students with enriching experiences that go beyond the classroom. From health awareness and sustainability projects to patriotic celebrations and career readiness initiatives, the past months have been filled with impactful activities for both students and staff.

Students from the MPU2332 Education for Sustainability Development subject hosted an insightful Health Talk titled “Smart Eating for a Healthier Life”, delivered by Ms Loh Qiao En Karen from Dietitian Mate Consultancy. The session highlighted the importance of making conscious food choices to support overall well-being and sustainable living.

In the spirit of Merdeka Month, Student Life and the TES Iskandar Library collaborated to organise a series of patriotic and creative activities. Students proudly expressed their creativity in the Jalur Gemilang Art Challenge by designing Malaysian flags using recycled materials, while the ‘Trivia Merdeka Challenge: Know Your Malaysia’ tested their knowledge of the nation’s history and heritage.

As part of the MPU2332 initiative, students conducted a Soap Berry Making Workshop, where participants learned to create eco-friendly soap that is both gentle on the skin and safe for the environment. This activity supports SDG Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, reflecting students’ commitment to promoting sustainability and healthier communities.

On 23 August 2025, the campus came alive during the Campus Open Day. Students and parents explored the vibrant learning environment, with a strong focus on programmes such as ACCA, Diploma, and ICAEW. The event was a valuable opportunity for prospective students to discover the exciting academic and career pathways available at STESJB.

STESJB also reached out to schools with career readiness initiatives. At SM Sains Batu Pahat, students took part in Mock Interview Sessions, gaining practical tips and hands-on experience to prepare for future interviews. The sessions were designed to boost confidence, improve communication skills, and enhance employability, with participants receiving personalised feedback to help them excel.
