Sunway Diploma Students Secure Top 5 Spot in ANCC2024 Cybersecurity Challenge

Four dedicated students from Sunway Diploma Studies (SDS) have earned a prestigious Top 5 position in the Astro-NACSA Coding Challenge 2024 (ANCC2024), a national-level competition that saw participation from institutions across Malaysia.

The team, named ‘AllTheWay’ was honored on stage by the Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo, during the Cyber Security Summit 2024 held on 30th July 2024 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).

This accomplishment is especially noteworthy as the team consists of Diploma-level students who successfully competed against 251 entries, many of which included degree-level participants from both public and private higher education institutions (IPTA and IPTS).

The team members—Lui Qiu Yang, Chu Chun Pin, Lim Hong Jie, and Kee Yung Shen—all pursuing a Diploma in Information Technology, demonstrated exceptional innovation and coding skills, securing their place among the top contenders in a national competition focused on crafting innovative solutions to combat online harm.

Their success was further bolstered by the guidance and expertise of their mentors, Mr. Ahmad Mujahid Ubaidillah Zakaria, Ms. Norazila Ali, Ms. Syuhada Azwa Selimi, and Mr. Tan Kwong Hwee, lecturers of SDS.

Organized by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) in collaboration with Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad and supported by the Department of Higher Education, the ANCC2024 tasked participants with developing innovative mobile applications to detect and report cybersecurity threats.

This achievement highlights the immense potential of local talent and underscores Malaysia's proactive steps to enhance its cybersecurity capabilities. Their achievement was celebrated with awards sponsored by global tech giants BlackBerry, CompTIA, Cisco, and Huawei.
