Before Travelling

Booking a flight ticket

  • Ensure that flight ticket is flexible in case of approval process delays 
  • Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) are the only entry points 
  • Earliest travel date for new students is 2 weeks before orientation date

Apply Single Entry Visa or e-Visa

  • Certain countries have exemptions. Please refer to official website for further information.
  • Upon landing in Malaysia, some nationalities will be required to obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA). 
  • Travelling to Malaysia without SEV or e-Visa may cause complications to your student visa endorsement upon arrival.

  • Kindly complete registration for app using your personal email and upload vaccination certificate (get English translation if not in English). Email helpdesk@mysejahtera.org or call (1800-88-8828) if facing any difficulty.

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)

  • The requirements to complete the MDAC apply to the following international students
    • Students who have obtained a Visa Approval Letter (VAL) and are travelling to Malaysia to commence their course for the first time
    • Mobility students with a course duration of less than three months who will enter Malaysia on a social visit pass.
  • The MDAC can be completed as early as 3 days before arrival via https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main?register

Advance Fee Payment

  • Advance fee of RM 18,000 or Semester 1 fees (whichever is higher) for administrative and tuition fees is required before travelling to Malaysia
  • Kindly forward a scanned copy of your telegraphic transfer confirmation to finance@sunway.edu.my and intadmission@sunway.edu.my

 

Student Arrival e-Form

A free airport pick-up service is available for international students who are arriving in Malaysia for the first time. Students will receive an email from the International Office regarding the Transportation Arrangement service. Please make sure you:

  • Fill out the Arrival e-Form seven (7) working days before your departure. Once you have filled out the e-form, a confirmation email with the driver’s details and other relevant information will be provided. Please check your junk folder in case you have not received the email within 72 hours or contact us if you are still having trouble.
  • Reply to the email and provide a phone number that can be contacted.
    • You are highly encouraged to use WhatsApp as the main messaging channel for the airport pickup arrangements and any further communication with the driver and International Office. Using any other messaging app is discouraged to avoid any breakdown in communication especially on the day of your arrival. If you are unable to use WhatsApp due to technical issues which cannot be avoided, please email us at intwelfare@sunway.edu.my or contact us at IO Hotline +6019-336 2242 before departure to indicate which messaging app that you can be contacted on.
  • If you are completing the form less than seven (7) working days before your scheduled arrival or you have made any changes to the form submitted, please email intwelfare@sunway.edu.my or call +603-7491 8622 to notify us.
  • During the transit, if you miss your flight and book onto another one, you need to contact the driver either by WhatsApp message or call to let them know of your new flight number, arrival date and time.
     

*Please note that airport pick-up is specifically provided for students. International Office can assist to arrange for transportation for accompanying family members at additional cost.

 

Document Checklist

  • Printed copy of e-Visa Approval Letter (eVAL)
  • Single Entry Visa (SEV) / eVISA with payment receipts (only applicable for some nationalities)
  • Completion of Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)
  • Original Passport (valid for 18 months before expiry)
  • High School / academic certificates, passport type photographs, medical information, spare photocopies of passport, etc. 
  • Printed Copy Offer Letter & Acceptance of Offer Letter
  • Receipts / proof of payments
  • Sufficient cash (Preferable US Dollar / Malaysian Ringgit - MYR) MYR can be obtained from the airport money changers.

Arrival at Airport

You will arrive at either Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA) or Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2).

Checklist of things to do at the airport

1.

Turn on mobile phone and connect to the airport WIFI Check for any WhatsApp messages from the driver

2.

Proceed to the International Arrival Hall

3.

Queue for Immigration Clearance at the Student Lane. As student visas are processed differently, when you arrive, proceed to the Immigration Office in the airport. It is commonly located near the Immigration counters. Please seek assistance from EMGS International Student Arrival Centre (ISAC) or staff on duty if unsure.

You must present your Visa Approval Letter (VAL or e-VAL), Single Entry Visa and Sunway’s program Offer letter at the Immigration Counter.

4.

Before leaving the immigration counter: Always ensure that there is a Special Pass stamped in your passport. If you are unsure, always check with Sunway’s airport pick up staff before leaving the airport

5.

Proceed to collect luggage and bags

6.

Send the driver a WhatsApp message to inform him that you are ready to leave the airport

7.

Follow the driver’s instruction to the pick-up point

8.

Meet the driver and enjoy the journey
